Eli Shirazi, a seasoned leader in the fintech and trading sectors, has launched a new prop trading firm, R u The 1, headquartered in the London area. Serving as the Founder and Director, Shirazi established the firm in November 2024 to capitalize on the UK’s strong regulatory environment and governance standards.
Explaining his choice of location, Shirazi said, “I incorporated the company in the UK to strategically position it for future regulatory changes within the prop trading industry, leveraging the country’s reputation for high regulatory standards.”
A Wealth of Experience in Financial Services and Trading
Shirazi brings extensive experience to his new venture, having held leadership roles in fintech, trading, and consulting across Europe. Since 2016, he has worked as a freelance business consultant, advising clients on EU financial services law, fintech regulations, and acquisitions. His consultancy work has taken him across Europe and beyond, providing strategic insights to firms navigating complex regulatory landscapes.
In addition to consulting, Shirazi has served as a Non-Executive Director at MEXEM Europe since 2016, contributing to board meetings, license applications, and strategic decisions for the company’s management and shareholders.
Leadership Roles at ActTrader, Magnum FX, and Saxo Bank
Shirazi’s career includes pivotal leadership positions at several prominent firms. Most recently, he was Managing Director at ActTrader Technologies from October 2023 to November 2024, where he focused on optimizing operations and driving strategic growth. Prior to that, he served as CEO of Magnum FX between 2018 and 2020, managing daily operations, compliance, and a key partnership with a major sports team.
Earlier in his career, Shirazi was Head of Front Office at Saxo Bank from 2013 to 2014, where he oversaw trading operations, regulatory compliance, and the launch of new products. From 2008 to 2012, he served as Head of Trading at Lembex Global Investment in Israel, where he managed client relationships, risk assessments, and the company’s dealing desk.

Shirazi’s venture comes as the proprietary trading industry looks ahead to a promising year. According to the Acuiti Proprietary Trading Management Insight Report, conducted with Avelacom, 64% of surveyed executives anticipate above-average conditions in 2025, driven by increased market volatility and advancements in technology.
Ultra-low latency firms are particularly optimistic, with 47% expecting an exceptional year. Investment plans reflect this confidence, as 65% of firms plan to expand budgets for latency improvements, algorithmic tools, market data, and colocation infrastructure.
