CFI Group has announced its expansion into Azerbaijan through the acquisition of AzFinance İnveŞtisiya Şirkəti, a brokerage firm regulated by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan. This acquisition will allow AzFinance to integrate its services into CFI’s trading platform and be rebranded under the CFI Group name by the end of the year. The move is expected to create new opportunities for both local and regional traders.
Expansion into Azerbaijan
CFI Group, with over 25 years of experience in the industry, is venturing into the Azerbaijani market for the first time. This strategic move aims to capitalize on Azerbaijan’s strategic location and burgeoning economic growth. AzFinance, the acquired brokerage firm, is regulated by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
Post-acquisition, AzFinance will undergo a rebranding process to align with CFI Group’s identity. Scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2024, this transition will also involve integrating AzFinance’s offerings into CFI’s trading platform. The goal is to provide clients with a more extensive range of financial products, including equities, commodities, and currencies.
Hisham Mansour, Co-founder and Managing Director of CFI, commented on the acquisition: “CFI is thrilled to enter Azerbaijan, a market with significant economic potential. This acquisition underscores our commitment to growth and our mission to deliver exceptional trading services.”
Continued International Expansion
The acquisition of AzFinance is part of CFI’s broader strategy of international expansion, following successful entries into markets such as Egypt, Kuwait, Oman, and Palestine.
In May, CFI extended its services to South Africa by obtaining a Category 1 Financial Service Provider (FSP) license from the Financial Sector Conduct Authority. The company also launched a new subsidiary in Oman with approval from the Capital Markets Authority. CFI Oman is one of several subsidiaries established by the company, which also includes a branch in Palestine.
CFI has also made strides in the realm of sports sponsorships. Last month, the company announced a multi-year partnership with seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton as its new global brand ambassador. The partnership will see CFI leverage Hamilton’s brand in its marketing efforts.
