Swissquote has deepened its involvement in the sports arena by becoming the main sponsor for two prominent Swiss ice hockey teams: Zurich’s ZSC Lions and Genève-Servette Hockey Club. The Swiss-based online broker has extended its sponsorship agreements with these teams for another three years, solidifying its presence in the sport.
Increased Visibility and Brand Exposure
As part of the extended agreement, the Swissquote logo will prominently feature on the jerseys of both teams, as well as in stadium advertisements and hospitality areas during all Swiss National League games. The National League is Switzerland’s premier ice hockey competition, offering significant visibility for the brand.
Both ZSC Lions, the reigning champions of the domestic league, and Genève-Servette Hockey Club will compete in the upcoming National League season, further enhancing Swissquote’s branding opportunities.
Jan De Schepper, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of Swissquote, emphasized the importance of ice hockey in Swiss sports culture. He expressed pride in continuing to support these two elite clubs, noting that the partnerships are aligned with Swissquote’s values and optimism for future successes.
A Sport Beloved by Many
The decision to extend the sponsorship comes after a season of record-breaking attendance. According to SDA-Keystone, nearly 2.6 million spectators attended National League games during the regular season, with most teams experiencing an increase in attendance compared to the previous year.
Both teams boast strong social media followings, especially considering Switzerland’s population of 8.776 million. ZSC Lions has around 40,000 followers on Facebook and 36,400 on Instagram, while Genève-Servette boasts similar numbers across their social platforms.
In related financial news, Swissquote reported a 19.3 percent increase in net revenue for the first half of 2024, totaling CHF 316.9 million. The company’s pre-tax profit surged by 35.9 percent to CHF 169.7 million during the same period.
