Stripe has entered into a strategic partnership with FreedomPay to enhance enterprise-level payment solutions, offering businesses more flexibility in their point-of-sale (POS) systems. While Stripe’s Terminal is widely used by small and medium businesses for custom POS setups, larger enterprises typically rely on their established systems. This new collaboration aims to bridge that gap by integrating Stripe’s payment services with FreedomPay’s extensive network of over 1,000 supported POS systems and card readers.
Bringing Unified Commerce to Large Enterprises
FreedomPay specializes in providing integrated commerce solutions that bring together various POS systems, payment providers, and loyalty programs. By partnering with Stripe, the company will offer clients the ability to use Stripe’s advanced features such as fraud prevention and payment optimization alongside their existing infrastructure.
One standout feature of the partnership is the implementation of unified reporting. This solution allows businesses with complex payment structures such as hotel chains and large restaurant groups to consolidate and analyze transaction data from different sources, all in one place. This will streamline operations and provide deeper insights for companies managing multiple business lines or payment processors.
“We are thrilled to combine FreedomPay’s advanced payment technology with Stripe’s renowned reliability and innovation in the payments industry,” said Chris Kronenthal, President of FreedomPay. “This partnership will empower large enterprises to meet their unified commerce needs more effectively.”
Stripe’s Commitment to Expanding POS Capabilities
The partnership with FreedomPay is part of Stripe’s broader effort to expand its capabilities in direct POS integrations. Stripe has also rolled out new POS connectors to make it easier for businesses to integrate its Terminal SDK with third-party systems. These include connectors for popular platforms such as Cegid and Oracle Xstore, adding to Stripe’s existing support for Adobe and Oracle OPERA.
For example, Colombian retailer Tennis adopted Stripe’s Cegid connector to unify its online and in-store payments in the United States, resulting in faster checkout times and fewer transaction errors.
Advancing Contactless Payment Solutions
Stripe is not only focusing on traditional POS systems but is also investing heavily in contactless payment technology. One of the most notable developments is the introduction of “Tap to Pay” on Android, which allows businesses to accept payments directly through Android devices without additional hardware. Companies like Qromo and HitPay have already integrated this feature, enabling them to accept payments on various Android devices seamlessly.
The company is further exploring new applications for near-field communication (NFC) technology, such as “Tap to Add” and “Tap to Verify,” aimed at enhancing customer experience and security. This innovation could open new possibilities for businesses looking to leverage contactless technology for different use cases.
Leadership Changes to Support Growth
To support its ongoing expansion, Stripe has appointed Rahul Patil as its new Chief Technology Officer, taking over from David Singleton. Patil will oversee Stripe’s global technology operations, including its billing, ledger, and financial data platforms, as well as regulatory and tax compliance systems. This leadership change is expected to strengthen Stripe’s position as it continues to expand its enterprise solutions.
With the partnership with FreedomPay and a growing focus on direct POS integrations and contactless solutions, Stripe aims to offer even more comprehensive services to large enterprises looking for reliable and scalable payment options.
