The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) has issued a warning to investors about multiple unregistered websites, including those associated with names like WeonMarket, Nortenway, and PrimusCFD. The regulator urges investors to verify companies’ registration status on CySEC’s official site before investing to avoid potential fraud.
Unregistered Websites Identified
CySEC’s alert highlights several unauthorized websites that are not affiliated with any licensed entity authorized to provide investment services. Some of these sites may be fraudulent clones, designed to deceive investors by mimicking legitimate firms through similar names, logos, and contact details.
The unregistered websites include WeonMarket and its related platform (platform.dashboardweonmarket.live), Nortenway’s registration page (cfd.nortenway.com/register), PrimusCFD’s client portal (client.primuscfd.net), as well as Axiagroup.co, OctaMarketFX, Apmetrade, Investous.pro, Varkuti.eu, and QuoMarkets.com. Other sites on CySEC’s warning list are Efgbtrdpltfrm.com, Profitwave.cc, MarketsAdvGroup.com, Platform-Oro.com, VTMarkets.com, VTMarkets.net, Bybit.com, Chiron-Group.limited, and GameChangersWW.com. Both Bybit and VTMarkets appear in this list, with GameChangersWW.com linked to these platforms.
CySEC emphasizes that these deceptive operations are in no way associated with the legitimate firms they may attempt to imitate.
Industry Response to CySEC’s Alert
Finance Magnates contacted several firms mentioned in CySEC’s warning. OctaFX responded, clarifying that the site “octamarketfx.com” is an impostor unaffiliated with their licensed brand, OctaFX. They confirmed that their official site is “octafx.com” and stated that they are working to eliminate the fraudulent site. The company noted that EU residents are restricted from registering on their official platform, octafx.com, and reiterated their commitment to addressing deceptive use of their brand.
OctaFX highlighted past attempts by impostors to mislead investors by using their name or logo to solicit funds fraudulently. They are currently taking measures to remove “octamarketfx.com” from public access.
CySEC’s Caution to Investors
CySEC advises investors to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of any investment platform on its official website before engaging with the firm. This step is essential to ensure the protection of investments and to avoid falling victim to clone firms or fraudulent sites.
